The King's Cup is an international football tournament held in Thailand and organised by the Football Association of Thailand. The winner receives the royal trophy from the King of Thailand, and Thailand, as host, takes part in every edition.
The first King's Cup was held in 1968 and won by Indonesia. It has been held almost every year since, except in 1983, 1985, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2020 and 2021. Some editions also featured club or invitational sides, and since 2018 only senior national teams have taken part.
The tournament moves between provinces. The 50th edition in 2024 was played at Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla and won by Thailand; the 51st in 2025 was held in Kanchanaburi and won by Iraq.
Over the decades the King's Cup has featured famous players such as Cha Bum-kun, Peter Schmeichel, Brian Laudrup, Cafu, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Henrik Larsson and Robert Lewandowski.
Since 2000 the tournament has been held several times at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, and also in Phuket, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai and Buriram (Chang Arena, 2019). Of the teams coming to Sisaket this time, Tajikistan won the 48th King's Cup in 2022 in Chiang Mai.
For the 52nd King's Cup in 2026, FA Thailand announced on 7 July 2026, at the FA Thailand Awards 2025/26, that Sisaket would host it at the Sports Authority of Thailand's Ko Klang Nam stadium. It falls in the FIFA window of 9–17 November 2026: a four-team tournament with two matches per team, featuring Thailand, Oman, Brunei and Tajikistan (Brunei replaced Bahrain after Bahrain withdrew in October 2026), with match days on 14 and 17 November 2026.
